Think Like a Periodontist: How a Dental Hygienist
Should Approach Caries and Pulpal Disease

Laurence S. Ambrose, DDS, MS

This presentation will help guide dental hygienists when they encounter these pathoses and provide treatment options that can be discussed with patients

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course and hands-on workshop, participants will have gained knowledge and practical experience with:
•  Discuss the differences between pulpal and periapical disease
•  Identify “red flag” teeth that should not receive hygiene/periodontal treatment
•  Understand the options for treatment of root caries
•  Recommend evidence-based treatment for high-risk patients
