HOMA H. ZADEH, DDS, PHD
Dr. Zadeh is a tenured Associate Professor and the director of the post-doctoral periodontology program at the University of Southern California (USC), Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry and a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Zadeh received his doctor of dental surgery degree from USC Ostrow School of Dentistry. He has also completed advanced clinical education in Periodontology and earned a PhD degree in immunology from the University of Connecticut, Schools of dental medicine and medicine. Dr. Zadeh is internationally recognized for his clinical and scientific expertise. His clinical areas of interest range from esthetic and minimally invasive periodontal and implant surgery, as well as tissue engineering. Dr. Zadeh directs the Laboratory for Immunoregulation and Tissue Engineering (LITE) at USC, dedicated to studying basic mechanisms to regulate bone and tissue regeneration/destruction under health/disease states, as well as conducting clinical trials of dental implant outcomes. He has extensive publication track, having published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as book chapters. Dr. Zadeh has served as the director of the USC International Periodontal and Implant Symposium for the past 15 years of its 43-year history. Dr Zadeh served as the president of the Western Society of Periodontology in 2017. He is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), Academy of Osseointegration (AO), American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AAED) and American Association for Dental Research (AADR). Dr. Zadeh also maintains a part-time private practice limited to Periodontology in Southern California.
TODD SCHEYER, DDS, MS
Diplomate of The American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Scheyer attended dental school at The Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University from which he graduated Magna Cum Laude earning clinical and research awards. Dr Scheyer received his Certificate in Periodontics, Conscious Sedation and a Masters Degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and School of Biomedical Science, clinically focusing on Perio-Prosthetic Regeneration. Dr. Scheyer was awarded the John F. Prichard Award for graduate research in February 2001. Dr. Scheyer was awarded both the AAP “Clinical Research Award” and the “Robinson Regeneration Award” in 2010 and 2017. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Scheyer has and currently serves as an officer and committee member for many outstanding dental organizations. He has served as Senior District 5 Trustee for the American Academy of Periodontology and is Past President of the Southwest Society of Periodontists and of the Texas Society of Periodontists. He is in private practice limited to Periodontics and Implant Reconstructive Dentistry in Houston, Texas. Dr Scheyer is a Clinical Assistant Instructor at the University of Texas Dental Branch-Houston and Guest Lecturer for the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is now actively involved with research, advocacy for safe dentistry and is a leader in his specialty, as well as, in the broader field of dentistry.
LYNDON COOPER, DDS, PHD
Dr. Cooper formerly served as Program Director of Advanced Prosthodontics and Stallings Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics (ACP),
a former ACP President and received the ACP’s 2004 Clinician/Researcher Award. He also was named the recipient of the 2009 International Association for Dental Research Distinguished Scientist Award for Prosthodontics and Implantology. Dr. Cooper has one of the strongest international reputations for innovation, perspective, and patient-oriented research and clinical care in the world. He has led an innovative team in translational research evaluating the role of a variety of pro- and anti-inflammatory bio-markers as well as innovative medical device designs to create research-oriented clinical solutions for relevant patient care. After earning his DDS from New York University, Dr. Cooper went on to earn a PhD from the University of Rochester, New York, and a Certificate in Prosthodontics from the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester. Later, he completed a two-year research fellowship at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in Bethesda, MD.
SONIA LEZIY, DDS, DIPL PERIO, FCDS(BC), FRCD(C)
Dr. Sonia Leziy, periodontist, maintains a full time practice in Vancouver British Columbia. She is a clinical associate professor at the University of British Columbia. She was awarded the Lucy Hobbs Award for mentorship in 2013, the Saul Schluger Award for excellence in teaching and education in 2014; she is recognized by Dentistry Today as a leader in continuing education. She is the Executive VP of Clinical Affairs for the Seattle Study Club. She is a member of numerous editorial boards, and is published in the areas of implant esthetics. She lectures extensively nationally and internationally, and provides

CHARLES J. GOODACRE, DDS, MSD
Dr. Goodacre received his DDS degree from Loma Linda University and an MSD degree in Prosthodontics and Dental Materials from Indiana University. He served as Chair of Prosthodontics at Indiana University
and Dean of the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate and Past-President of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Past-President of the American College of Prosthodontists, and Past President of the Academy of Prosthodontics. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation (FOR) and Chairs their Education Council. He has over 220 published articles, abstracts, textbooks, and textbook chapters. In addition, he has developed or helped develop 17 online CE courses, 11 electronic education programs, and 3 eBooks. He currently holds the title of Distinguished Professor and teaches in the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics at Loma Linda University and maintains a prosthodontic practice.
PETER NORDLAND, DMD, MS
Dr. Nordland is one of the few Fellows of the prestigious American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and an Active Member of the American Academy of Periodontology. He is a co-founder of the Periodontal Plastic Surgeons Study group that has grown to become the International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons, an international academy welcoming periodontists and oral surgeons with an interest in esthetic surgery. With his development of this plastic surgery sub-specialty, he is considered an expert in the field of Oral Plastic Surgery. He has introduced many new surgical procedures and has developed his own microsurgical instrumentation. He enjoys teaching and is the director of the Oral Microsurgical Residency Program at the Newport Coast Oral-Facial Institute and is an Assistant Professor of Periodontics at Loma Linda University and has taught at almost every US dental school. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Nordland has presented over 300 professional papers and lectures internationally for esteemed organizations such as the American Dental Association, The American College of Prosthodontists, The American Academy of Periodontology, The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The Academy of Osseointegration, The International Dental Federation, the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and many of the state dental associations including, New York, Texas and California. Dr. Nordland has authored or co-authored
four textbooks, written chapters and several journal publications on Periodontal Plastic Surgery and has recently published a landmark paper on surgical correction of the lost interdental papilla.
JOAN OTOMO-CORGEL, DDS, MPH, FACD, FICD
Dr. Joan Otomo-Corgel is a graduate of UCLA School of Dentistry 1976 (DDS), UCLA School of Public Health 1980 (MPH – Behavioral Sciences and Health Education). She is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the UCLA School of Dentistry, Department of Periodontics (1979- ) and faculty at the Greater Los Angeles VA Health Care Center Dental Service (1990- ). She has had a private practice limited to periodontics, oral medicine, and implantology in Los Angeles, California, with Dr. William Matoska, since 1981. Dr. Otomo-Corgel is the Past President of the following organizations: AAP, WSP and CSP. She lectures extensively on periodontal medicine, medical emergencies, over-the-counter dental products, and clinical periodontal topics. She has contributed to over 60+ journals and texts.
BOBBY BIRDI, DMD, MS
Dr. Birdi received his dental degree from the University of Saskatchewan and his post-graduate specialty training in both periodontics and prosthodontics from the University of Minnesota. He is a Fellow and Examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate of both the American Board of Periodontology and the American Board of Prosthodontics. Dr. Birdi has academic affiliations at the University of British Columbia and the University of Minnesota, where he is involved in research projects and clinical trials. Dr. Birdi also lectures internationally on perio-prosthetic implant therapy. Dr. Birdi is the co-founder of the Digital Dentistry Institute and is currently practicing at the BC Perio Dental Health & Implant Centres in Vancouver.
AMIR AALAM, DDS
Dr. Aalam graduated with a DDS degree from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, Nice (France). He, subsequently, specialized in Advanced Periodontics at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles (USA). Dr. Aalam is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology. The French Society and the California Society of Periodontology awarded Dr. Aalam for his contribution to clinical research in the field of implant dentistry. ALINA KRIVITSKY, DDS
Dr. Krivitsky graduated with a BS in Dental Hygiene, DDS and a Certificate in Advanced Periodontics from the USC School of Dentistry. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. She is on a committee for Friends of Dentistry and Peer Review. ALFONSO PINEYRO, DDS
Dr. Piñeyro received his dental degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in 1999. He then completed a two year Advanced Education in General Dentistry in 2003 before completing his specialist
training in Prosthodontics at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center. Dr. Piñeyro is currently an affiliate instructor at the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Washington. He is the past president of the esteemed Washington State Society of Prosthodontists and is also a member of the American College of Prosthodontists and the American Prosthodontics Society. Dr. Piñeyro has authored several publications in peer reviewed dental journals and is currently involved in research focusing on dental implants at the University of Washington. Dr. Piñeyro practices 4 days a week where he focuses on all aspects of implant dentistry. He has lectured both nationally and internationally.
GEORGE C. CHO, DDS, FACP
Associate Professor; Predoctoral Director Implant Dentistry; Co-Director, Advanced Prosthodontics; The Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. Dr. Cho received his dental degree from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 1987. He then attended the Advanced Education in Prosthodontics Program at the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC and graduated from the program in 1990. He has since been a full-time faculty member and maintains a private practice limited to prosthodontics in Torrance, California. He is an Associate Professor in the Division of Restorative Sciences, Co-Director of the Advanced Education in Prosthodontics, and the Pre-doctoral Director of Implant Dentistry. Dr. Cho initiated th pre-doctoral implant program in 2002 and has been deeply involved with educating students in the restorative and treatment planning of dental implants. He has developed and taught courses at the pre and post-doctoral levels primarily focused on dental esthetics, implants, and fixed prosthodontics. He has also published several articles and lectured on the topics of restorative dentistry and dental materials. Dr. Cho is a fellow of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and the Western Los Angeles Dental Society.
OREST KOMARNYCKYJ, RDH, BS
Dr. Orest G. Komarnyckyj was born in Chicago, IL, but moved to the beautiful state of Arizona in 1960. He got his B.A. from the University of Arizona in 1975. He then traveled to the Midwest for dental school at Indiana University graduating in 1981 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After two years of private practice as a restorative dentist he went to the the University of Southern California and received his certificate in Periodontology in 1985. Dr. K has been practicing periodontology for more than 33 years! For over 15 years Dr Komarnyckyj has been providing patients in his office with Endoscopic Periodontal Therapy. He is also the Chief Medical Officer for PerioEndoscopy, LLC. When Dr. Komarnyckyj isn’t busy at Dental Implants and Periodontology of Arizona, he is spending time with his family. He is married for over 25 years with two daughters in college. He enjoys weight lifting and hiking when he has free time, and he gets his laughs as a stand-up comic at venues around Phoenix.

Dr. Lowe graduated from UBC’s Faculty of Dentistry in 1986 , graduate of the Advanced Aesthetic programs at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, Active member of both Canadian and American Dental Associations, an accredited member and adjudicator of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a director and founding member of the Canadian Academy for Esthetic Dentistry, holds fellowships in the International Academy of Dental Facial Esthetics, American College of Dentists, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He sits on the editorial advisory board of Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry, Dental Chronicle, the Journal of Implant and Advanced Clinical Dentistry and is the editor of the Canadian Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry and the AACD’s Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry. JODI DEMING, RDH
Jodi started practice as a dental hygienist in 1988. In the early 1990’s frustrated with the understanding of the etiology of periodontal disease became involved with biofilm research. At that time the term was rarely used in dentistry except in the context of dental unit waterlines. As a clinical research associate Jodi was involved with biofilm growth and therapeutic product development evaluating the effect on dental biofilms. Understanding biofilms, she developed a passion about non-surgical therapy, root morphology, and the results of thorough periodontal debridement. Jodi has worked 28 years mastering non-surgical periodontal therapy techniques and procedures. She currently works in both periodontic and prosthodontic practices. Jodi is a national and international educator, clinician, and lecturer. She has presented over a 150 lectures and workshops on advanced integration of ultrasonic and hand instrumentation. Jodi has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry, Department of Dental Hygiene and at Spear Education. She is a Friends of Hu-Friedy Thought Leader valued for her involvement with biofilm research, instrument development and training. She is nationally recognized as an expert in endoscope and ultrasonic instrumentation
MICHELLE STRANGE, RDH, MSDH
Michelle has been a clinician in dentistry since 2000 and currently is a practicing hygienist, surgical assistant, speaker, volunteer, educator in a dental hygiene program, lead clinical educator for TePe Oral Health Care, Inc., and podcast co-host for “A Tale of Two Hygienists”. She is a self-proclaimed dental nerd and sees the dental profession as not only her forever career path but her hobby. With a Master’s in Dental Hygiene education and a belief in lifelong learning, Michelle hopes to continue to learn and grow within the dental profession and one day see the gap bridged between medical and dental. Her experience as a hygienist began in a periodontal and implant driven office and has gained much experience with the maintenance of dental implants. Her passion is helping patients be successful at home with a goal of better oral health with a patient-centered approach.
TRACY ANDERSON BUTLER, CRDH, MFT
Mrs. Butler has 28 years of diverse experience in the dental industry from chairside and beyond. Tracy is a registered dental hygienist, thought leader, motivational speaker, sales leader/coach and change agent. She believes the key to every successful treatment outcome begins with an accurate assessment leading to a co-diagnosis between the patient and dental team. Tracy’s clinical experience began in a busy comprehensive restorative practice in West Palm Beach, Florida. Mrs. Butler spent over 11 years on faculty at Palm Beach State College dental hygiene program & research clinic and considers few things more rewarding. Tracy’s commitment to ultimate patient care propelled her to pursue a career in implant and regenerative dentistry with Straumann, USA . Obtained his primary education in Bari (Italy), where he was also certified as a Dental Technologist (CDT) in 1985. From 1991 to 2004 he carried out metallurgy research becoming a specialist in dental metallurgy. From 1986 to 2004 he was the owner and director of Dental Laboratory in Bari (Italy). He is a Master Ceramist and also is specialized in metallurgy, implant work and complex esthetic rehabilitation. In 2005 he holds a Bachelor of Science of the Dental Technology degree from the University of Southerh Illinois . From 2005 to 2008 he was Research Associate and Program Director, Advanced Training for Dental Technology at the Center for Dental Technology, the University Of Southern California Herman Ostrow School Of Dentistry. From 2009 to 2016 was a Clinical Assistant Professor and Course Director for the Advanced Dental Morphology for the Operative Dentistry Program at the University Of Southern California Ostrow School Of Dentistry. He Is a Lead Faculty Department of Restorative Dentistry –Dental Laboratory Technology Program-Division of Health Sciences at Pasadena City College. He is a Faculty/Lecturer UCLA School of Dentistry Division of Advanced Prosthodontics. He is a winner of award 2007 Judson C. Hichey in the research
category in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. JEAN C. WU, DDS
Dr. Jean Wu graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science degree in 1990 and earned a Masters in Prosthodontics in 1994 from the University of Melbourne, Australia. She completed advanced training in Maxillofacial Prosthetics studying at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Dr Wu maintained a full time Prosthodontic private practice in Australia, and was a Prosthodontist at the Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne. She was also a distinguished lecturer and clinical instructor at the University of Melbourne and past president of the Australian Prosthodontic Society.
After relocating to the United States in 1999, Dr. Wu earned a DDS at the University of Tennessee and was an instructor and lecturer in the Restorative Dentistry Department. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with highest honors and awarded membership of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Richard Doggett Dean and Margarite Taylor Dean Honorary Odontological Society for her outstanding dental achievements.
Dr. Wu is on the Executive Council for Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics and Immediate Past-President for Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the Orange County Dental Society. She was a Board member of the Orange County Dental Society in 2011 and Senior Delegate in 2012. Currently, Dr. Wu is Partner in the Sheets, Paquette and Wu Dental Practice and on faculty with the Newport Coast Oral Facial Institute, a non-profit international teaching and research center. She is also actively involved with several research projects on dental implants and materials and published articles in several dental journals.
